How is the office food at NEXT?

Pros

Friendly staff, good staffroom with free tea and coffee.

Cons

Shifts changed on short notice. Often your required to sort cover for a shift yourself. Constant phone calls asking you to come in on days off. Technology is difficult to work with, with constant crashing and then you have to complete tasks from scratch. Many roles required to complete daily, from restock the floors (you have to run to and from the stockroom) and manning the till, tidying shop floor and completing stock takes and stock moves. All this wouldn't be too bad but you have to do all at once with generally speaking only you in the department. During covid all bonuses were removed which could have got you an extra £1 an hour and then was replaced with a points system that you can save up and get a gift card. Problem is it takes months to save enough for a £10 gift card.

Advice to Management

More staff needed and update the outdated technologies that the staff have to battle. Reinstate the old bonus system, you've made plenty in profits!

Does NEXT have a pension plan?

Pros

Next are waking up to the market and improving their already great perks: 25% staff discount on Next branded items, share save scheme, bonus and pension and soon, depending on tech level, BUPA and share options!

Cons

Base salary below industry average; you'll get paid more elsewhere but won't get a lot of the perks you do at Next.

Advice to Management

Make the base salary more competitive: the bonus isn't guaranteed and has been low for quite a few years and has been zero for one and Share options rely on share price, they don't always give returns after 3 years. Need more opportunities for people to gain project management skills/people management skills; it's quite a leap from lead developer to development project management causing many leads to leave.
