Does MITRE offer relocation assistance?

Pros

Great benefits. Even with the new changes, for those of of us who recently joined the benefits package is amazing compared to private sector. Pay is good as well.

Cons

It seems like people here are afraid of change. They've done things a certain way for years and don't want to change so they fight it. It stunts innovation and growth. There is also very much a "stay in your lane" culture. It's hard to explore new areas or make a large scale impact because people will try to block your every move and be upset over the fact that you had the nerve to step out of your assigned box. Unfair hiring practices. Your interview process can be 4 months long with 6 hour long interviews and an assignment while someone who joined at the same time had one 30 minute loop. CEO isn't great either, constantly backtracks/contradicts his own messages and gets very angry at questions asked during call. Would not recommend for new grads or people moving from fast paced companies who enjoy making impact.

Advice to Management

-Implement a company wide hiring model. That way you can weed out biases in the hiring practices. -Consistency in messaging. It's very frustrating to hear one thing then have it backtracked the next week. Makes the company look inept. -Put Providakes in anger management or yoga or even better, get rid or him.

Even with the new changes, for those of of us who recently joined the benefits package is amazing compared to private sector.

Does MITRE offer parental leave?

Pros

I have been a MITRE employee for over ten years and I can tell you first hand its not as bad as these reviews make it seem. Going into a tough economic time they decided to cut free food and make coffee free for a company over 10,000 people which I think is exactly what a responsible steward of government money should do. During the pandemic we were gainfully employed, sent to WFH for our safety, and the corporate operations team bent over backwards to ensure that IT and other key functions never missed a step on a shoe string budget. Recently the organization made a benefit cut that only impacted staff with over 9 years of service, but in turn they rewarded the other 65% of the staff an additional day off. They did not go after retirement or healthcare like some other organizations have done lately. Working here you get to interact with some smart people, and work on real problems. We have 12 weeks of paid parental leave, and they will let you go and get a masters or PHD with an incredibly (often close to 100%) reimbursement. Its not perfect, but its no where near as bad as some of these reviews make it sound.

Cons

The move to the gov fiscal year to the calendar year has felt like chaos. Company has a lot of VP's and can sometimes feel top heavy at the VP/SVP/C-Level.

Advice to Management

Overhead is not the problem, we did not get us in this mess please don't take it out on those who help the organization run smoothly.
