What is health insurance like at Everlane?

Pros

Great health insurance plans. Remote work available. Compassionate and empathetic CXers and employees. Micro-teams that function soundlessly together and accomplish their goals. Great opportunities to learn from and work with other teams to build your knowledge base and skill set, if you put yourself out there and be your own advocate. Great Learning and Development resources.

Cons

A fading start-up/scrappy culture, becoming a rigid corporate culture. Extremely high attrition rate. Low team and overall company morale. Distrust and fear culture between employees and upper management/senior leaders/HR. Immense workload for CX with low and unequal pay. No performance or compensation review/pathways for growth on the CX team. CX compensation is determined by your zip code, not the quality of your work. Huge dysfunction with the People Team and senior leadership understanding what CX does and what it takes to be on the team (CX is looked down on).

Advice to Management

Keep up the great work with outside parties to focus on your personal self-reflection as leaders and how you are currently negatively impacting your teams. Foster humility, teamwork, and change, starting with yourselves. Create a safe space for healthy discussions by focusing on the heart and soul of the brand; transparency. Reevaluate compensation for CX to address your high attrition rate; not one member feels valued, but that can change. There is an opportunity to keep the great ones you still have if you act now and do the work you say you are committed to. Sadly, the only change available for many is to leave.

Great health insurance plans.

Does Everlane offer sponsored degrees?

Pros

- The job had great flexibility, remote work and work from home options pre-pandemic, which was super forward thinking of them and really brought in an interesting group of people. A lot of artists, actors, musicians, stay-at-home moms, and entrepreneurs. We all loved the brand and worked really hard! - Got to learn a lot about what is really possible with sustainability in fashion. - CX team was the best team at Everlane. Super diverse and interesting people from all different career backgrounds!

Cons

- Wasn't the best experience overall! We were let go due to unionizing efforts and for asking for fair pay and benefits. - We weren't paid appropriately for the amount of support we gave and the high expectations put on us. We also often weren't treated with the care and sensitivity we gave our customers. Maybe things will change as WFH becomes the norm. At the time, I was paid more on unemployment after getting let go then what I was paid at work, which is confusing. - Managers were many times just cutting their teeth and learning how to manage a team. This lead to a lot of immature moments, inappropriate feedback or discussions, ambush like tactics during transitions within the team, and power struggles. Growth was often prioritized for OG employees and favorites.

Does Everlane offer unlimited holiday?

Pros

Shift leads are great and working remotely is a huge plus.

Cons

Pay is pretty low and your metrics are constantly tracked and scored. Contract workers don't get paid time off and you only get Christmas and Thanksgiving off, but often times they try to get you to work overtime to make up those hours.

Does Everlane offer housing assistance?

Pros

You have generous clothing allowance and good benefits. Pays more than most comparable retailers.

Cons

-Leadership is unprofessional and doesn’t seem to know how to keep the ship afloat. The sales floor is great. The back of house is hectic and stressful. -They conduct interviews in the manager office directly next to the break room. You can’t enjoy your break because you have to listen to sometimes uncomfortable conversations happening in the office.

Advice to Management

Please do interviews offsite and let us enjoy our break

Does Everlane offer parental leave?

Pros

I've been working for Everlane for about 3 years now and have seen the company go through significant transformation. The brand has definitely had it's low moments, but it's in those moments when I've seen the company grow the most. Here are some of the things I've seen the company implement recently: -Internal mobility - so employees can pursue different career routes, particularly a path for retail and CX to move to corporate -Pay - they performed an entire audit of compensation practices to make sure there was no inequitable practices happening and then they built pay bands so they can be competitive and consistent -Anonymous feedback tool - we can provide anonymous feedback twice a month that is reviewed by the leadership team -Talent planning - an opportunity for leaders to assess the health of their teams & functions, its a great tool for succession planning -DEI - implemented KPIs to track the success of the DEI work in recruiting, very cool to see -Regular occurring "no meeting days "& "Wellness days" - to help with burnout -Hired a Director of Sustainability to continue to push the mission of that work and make a positive impact in the world. It's clear that Everlane cares about it's people - otherwise they wouldn't have invested the resources to build the things above. This mission of the brand is also incredible and it flows in everything we do. Very cool to see that. Has it been an easy 3 years? Definitely not - especially with covid. But I've learned more in these 3 years that I ever thought I would. We are trending in the right direction and I'm proud to be a part of it.

Cons

Change doesn't happen overnight, working here is still "hard" - but it's a rewarding hard. Still haven't gotten a 401k match. Parental leave benefits could be more competitive.

Advice to Management

Continue to support your teams - especially with burn out. Simplify the tasks.

Parental leave benefits could be more competitive.
