What is it like working with clients or customers at Boots Opticians?

Pros

Easy job when you get the hang of it Good pay (£8.50 per hour) Talk to customers/patients on a daily basis Good phone experience and customer service experience

Cons

Can get fast paced No real training (learn on the job) Management can be awful

What are working conditions like at Boots Opticians?

Pros

In store team very good. Discount card for Boots. Boots annual benefits box.

Cons

Dishonest upper management team. Head office communications terrible, especially relating to lockdown and covid safety. Company shows little respect for staff, planned restructure of management April 2020 kept secret until furlough scheme reduced. Redundancies issued to staff that had been assisting the covid testing, and then internal jobs withheld by management until they had accepted severance. Unfair treatment to staff In terms of working hours, locations and favouratism.

Advice to Management

Practice the ethics of which the company preaches, integrity and honesty.

Head office communications terrible, especially relating to lockdown and covid safety.

How do employees feel about Boots Opticians's policy around taking breaks?

Pros

- Fast paced environment where the days pass quickly - Lots of new things to learn - Staff are lovely and willing to help new employees - Further training is a possibility

Cons

- Management only care about selling and hitting targets - Wage was less than stated in interview and far too little for the job you are expected to do - Management do not provide a training plan and expect other staff to show you things - Disorganised break times and CONSTANT under-staffing

Advice to Management

Treat your employees like people. Yes, targets are important but at the end of the day the focus should be on giving people the glasses they want and can afford.
