I have been working at Workday full-time for more than 3 years
Workday is an amazing company and has really invested in their employees. There are lots of benefits such as exercise studio, free snacks, fitness expenses etc. but that isn't really what makes the... place great. There are more than 1200 employees now, but it still feels like a small company as everyone is so friendly. The senior leadership in the Dublin office is great, and you really feel like they care. This is the least hierarchal place I've ever worked - managers and directors are amazing and usually great craic. They make a real effort at diversity and inclusion, and there are always tonnes of charity events and programmes to help the local community. There's a lot of fun in the office, with lots of opportunities to make friends by joining book clubs, running clubs etc. Workday is killing it this year - #1 Best Place to Work in Ireland, #3 in Europe, winner of Best Graduate Employer in Ireland.
Workday is an American tech company so it's unsurprising that a lot of colleagues are based in the US, but there is the usual feeling of the US team looking at Dublin like it is a bit of a backwater.... Accommodations are made for meetings etc with the West Coast, but a lot of the VPs seem totally culturally unaware about international people in the team, and it feels like recognition and promotion often go to colleagues based in the HQ in California rather than in EMEA.
Advice to Management
Amazing place to work, but better cultural awareness around the EMEA team would create a more solid team environment. European people don't usually ask a lot of questions in meeting. That's not... through a lack of engagement, but because we understand presentations just fine without additional explanations. At a recent summit a C-suite leader referred to the EMEA team as the 'offshore team' - that's not how we see ourselves!

Alexa’s history is impressive. It’s completely evolved since it’s inception in 1996 from simply “the Alexa Rank” into a truly valuable suite of SEO and content marketing tools. Being a part of that... evolution amidst a crowded, competitive digital marketing space is really exciting. As a previous reviewer noted, Alexa runs with an entrepreneurial spirit while also maintaining organizational stability. It’s small team that moves quickly, but in a flexible, good-natured working environment with really robust employee benefits. Many of its employees have been there since the early years—smart, savvy, individuals who are real team players. I have always felt respected, like I have a voice, and can make an impact. Additionally, the flatter organizational structure of the team means lots of opportunity for non-senior employees to take on more responsibility and be very hands on. This aspect of the company has played a really positive role in my professional growth, setting a solid foundation for my career. I think there’s a lot of growth potential for Alexa, and have enjoyed being a part of a team that gets things done with determination and a good attitude. Stretched resources is common problem for small teams. Despite a desire to always move quickly, having to diligently prioritize is the reality. Also, operating by Amazon standards can mean extra... hoops or limitations when it comes to certain projects. This fosters resourcefulness, but can be very frustrating. At times it has felt like trying to moving too fast has compromised product quality and customer experience. It’s true that sometimes perfect can be the enemy of the good, stifling progress, but I would like to see the team build in more time to really optimize the tools we have rather than hurrying off to build something new.
