Being part of a bigger group, internal audits and business controls are taken to a level that is at times disruption to the business activities; the salary follows strange pattern whereby you can be... on a lower salary than person reporting to you ?! There is no sense of managament pulling towards one common goal, they seem to play a lot of politics to suit themselves

Promote people on the basis of their achievements rather than their political skills; If you want to see real growth and innovation, try to make it part of a DNA at every level of organisation

You get to work with amazing products and projects. Some of the people belong to the best of the best in their field some even becoming friends for life. Decent salary, nice company car.
GS / SG likes to portray themself as a very principled company. They are not. People don't count, profit does. There is an immense amount of protectionism (and hence brown-nosing) and internal... competition between (and within) branches going on. One factory will underbid another for the same project. While the project could have simply been won by the first factory if left alone. This is due to the second factory being afraid to be the next to be shut down / laid off. Ruthless management will plan a shutdown years in advance and milk a factory for all it's know-how and siphone away key people months in advance without telling mid-management. Any innovation or thinking outside the box is not appreciated whatsoever, very stiff company structure (top-down). Generally even sister companies behave like a pain in the b.... towards each other, as if they were mortal enemies instead of being part of the same group and working towards one goal. And if you cannot achieve your targets because of that, you take the blame. They also like to style themselves as a "Top Employer". They are not. From upper management promises are made to keep a factory open. The next year it is shut down anyway. Promises are made that at least half of the staff will be offered alternative positions within the group. Two people eventually get offers. If you come an single month short to receive some benefits when being laid off, you can count on it that you will not be shown any lenience or even gratitude for the work you put in.
Advice to Management
Stop with the internal competition, the protectionismand reign of terror thing. Keep your promises. Be more human and have a good long hard look at what your single minded focus to earn more profit... does with people's lives.
