Current Employee - Manager

I have been working at Celgene full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Celgene was a truly amazing place to work. The best place I have worked in my career. Very fast paced and demanding, but if you work hard and are smart you can flourish. Being part of a talented... project team bringing treatment for unmet medical needs to market has meant a lot to me

Cons

It’s already apparent that the big-pharma culture at BMS is not aligned with the agile biotech culture that defined Celgene. It’s turning out to be the case that the same job one person has at... Celgene is managed by 5 or more people at BMS. This means a lot of talent will be mapped into positions that minimize their potential. There is a lack of confidence that BMS will value the talent and expertise Celgene employees bring to the table. The majority of the late stage pipeline BMS now owns is thanks to the hard work and dedication of Celgene’s workforce, but BMS is already pushing to fit everything into their model which is alarming. I loved being part of Celgene and am deeply saddened what made it special will likely go away.

Advice to Management

Don’t let the BMS way of working set us back. Value the Celgene culture and consider it wisely as the integration moves forward.
