I have an interview with the owner coming up and how would you answer if the they ask when I can start when I have two set/booked vacations in the upcoming months? For reference: I leave for one in 2 weeks for a month and the other one is in the beginning of December for 2 weeks. I don’t want to say immediately because of the trips, but if I don’t say immediately then I might lose the job. Help!
Honesty is always the best policy. If they don’t expect you to have a life, they won’t value you.
Like23Tell them immediately so that they’re aware of it you can’t bring that up after the fact just because of how much time you’re looking to be out of the office, so bring it up as soon as you have that conversation as honesty is the best policy. Good luck.
Like8If they didn’t ask Wait until you get the offer and then tell them If they ask when are you available then yes be honest and tell them
Like3My assistant was upfront with me about her upcoming trips before I hired her. It was fine since she gave me sufficient notice to plan accordingly and find coverage for her during that time. IMHO, it’s better to be upfront about these things rather than waiting till the last moment.
Like9You indicate that you are taking a vacation forOne month. Unfortunately that's a pretty tough oneIf I must say.I know you have to be honest with them,But I guess you have to also be preparedTo be shut down.I think if you can afford it maybe you start working somewhereAfter your vacations? I realize that that it's not practical in everybody's case. I have nothing to offerExcept to say good luck! Sorry
Like2I currently work for this employer. The owner is one of the most toxic, arrogant, and disorganized manager. She constantly talks down to her employees, completely unaware of the emotional difficulties involved with communicating with a person on the spectrum or any other disability. Everyone at the company knows, they all walk eggs shells around her. If I were you, id work somewhere else.
Like1I wouldn’t say anything until I got an offer.
Like4Be honest up front during the interview process. If you try to bring up that you have these lengthy vacations scheduled after an offer, they can rescind it or if you leave your current job, start the new job, then bring up a lengthy vacation, they could terminate you and not bat an eyelash. Then you’ll be without a job period and may need to cancel your vacation. If they don’t give you the job because of scheduled personal time, you’re better off.
Like1In all honesty I would tell them that you have a big family event coming up and tell them the days ... Jobs can't say things about you and your family things .... I just went to school and learnt things about interviews and conversating better at interviews... but I wish you the best of luck 🤞
Like1They haven't mentioned the date of interview yet right, so be honest
Like1They haven't mentioned the date yet right, so be honest. Immediate is not a promise word by many employers. Decision Making is yours
