Can we have an actually realistic what should I be making by 25/30/35 thread? I feel like 100k by 25, 150k by 30 and 200k by 35-40 is a lofty but reasonable goal for white collar careers.
For 75% of America, none of these are realistic
Like140I wouldn’t want to do this job for 200k. Shoot for the stars and don’t compare. Who cares as long as you think you are compensated fairly
Like4This post is already unrealistic
Like30These numbers are definitely doable in consulting
Like10This is a dumb conversation if it lacks context. Where do you live? How much debt do you have? How much do you spend on travel? Do you have or want kids? Anchor to what you want to get done/enjoy in life, make enough money to do those things. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
Like32Very realistic in consulting or common consulting exits (eg, corporate strategy)
Like4Don’t know what salaries start at nowadays but 100k by 25 is very aggressive while 150k by 30 is pretty aggressive.
Like4925: 100k 30: 200k 35: 350k 40: 400k
LikeYour numbers and ages are very realistic and maybe even a bit low for TC in HCOL city.
Like2I think a reasonable projection would look like this: 100k+ at graduation (21/22) 250k+ by 25 500k+ by 30 1m+ by 35 2m+ by 40 3m+ by 45 4m+ by 50 5m+ by 55
Like103I started making 57k at 22, 80k at 25, and now 150k at 30. Don’t know what the future holds but I’m pretty content with where I am currently.
Like5These are my numbers and I’m pretty content 24: 57k (when I started my career in a full time job) 25: 68k 30: 127k 33: 205k (current age) I do feel incredibly grateful for my salary progression 🙏🏼
Like41In another thread some 25-30 said work isn’t their life…so 🤷♂️
Like1Go home, you’re drunk 🍻
Like6This is where I started. Immigrant that came here at 24 for grad school so late start in the corporate world. 27: 60k 30: 84k 31: 132k (changed jobs) 32: 140k (changed jobs) 33: 180k (changed jobs) I don’t know how realistic it is but hoping to hit 220-250k by 35. Thinking two years in the current job and then an internal transfer to a corp dev role, I’d stay in corp dev long term after that. Fingers crossed.
Like8I think it’s certainly doable especially if you start out with a consulting firm or any *higher than normal paying job for graduates. By the time you’re 30 you should be at Manager level so that alone should have you in the high 100s. I’m in Houston and here’s my salary breakdown since graduation: 23 - 91K 24 - 88K 25 - 95K 26 - 102K 27 - 170K (switched jobs)
Like2Very doable. 23: 90k 25: 110k 26: 125k 28: 180k 30: 300k+
Like1Very doable even at a mediocre firm like Accenture.
Like3Are we talking base or TC? My base has gone from 185k at 28 to 140k at 30..
Like1My stats: 23 (After graduating college): 77K 24: 85K 25: 102K 26: 150K (including bonus) I live in a MCOL city in Texas.
