What does a Product Consultant do?
Product consultants provide customers with information and support related to products and services. They educate customers about product features and benefits, answer questions, and assist with orders. They may also demonstrate product operation. Depending on the company, they may develop and produce internal materials or training programs related to a certain product or category, and may implement software programs and related systems to handle order processing and data management. They may also analyze industry or customer trends and contribute to product-related strategic planning.
Product consultants typically have a bachelor’s degree in a business or IT discipline, and a background in customer service, product development, or a business field. Customer service skills are required. Proficiency with data analysis and project management programs is helpful, and software programming experience is a plus.
