What does a Millwright Supervisor, Millwright do?

Millwrights are skilled workers who expertly and routinely install and dismantle the heavy machinery commonly used in factories and found on construction sites. Millwrights are also called industrial mechanics and in addition to installation, they are responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy machinery or equipment.

Millwrights can move or relocate heavy equipment or machinery on site or to an entirely different site, including when a company moves locations. Millwrights align the machines’ individual parts and replace them with the help of specialized tools including hydraulic bolters. Millwright repair services often include the replacement of parts that have become worn or defective. They take apart entire machines by carefully dismantling, categorizing, and labeling the parts of the machine; this sometimes occurs when a client needs to clear the shop floor to make way for new equipment. A Millwright will work with tools including hammer sleeves and welding equipment, and they sometimes work on larger projects that require them to use cranes or trucks. Most millwright jobs require a high school diploma or equivalent, and some millwright workers complete a certification or associate’s degree in industrial maintenance.
