4 stars because I cannot speak to the pension/retirement plans, but the health and leave benefits are stellar. As a permanent (non-contractual) employee, you are given the option between United Healthcare, BlueCross Blue Shield, or Kaiser, with separate/optional plans for drug, vision, and dental. I chose all of them. For a premium of about 150/month, I have no deductible and, frequently, no copays for visits or procedures - I paid 0$ for a major surgery that required a full day of hospitalization, and due to the generous leave benefits was able to remain on payroll for my entire month-long recovery.

Health insurance has Great coverage, low copays, low deductible, great pricing. 401k has no matching.

The health insurance benefits are excellent and if you stay with the organization long enough, the state employee retirement plan is excellent. There is tuition assistance but it’s not too great.

I always feel like I have time to take off to do as I wish when I wish; vacation days, personal days, and sick days.

Health insurance is pretty good. Eye care is the only thing lacking. State pension opportunity is pretty appealing too.

A+ healthcare at a low cost. Pension is good, assuming it's there when you retire. Other retirement plans are available and they provide a financial consultant once per month, but there is no matching program active at this time. Lots of time off through vacation (2 weeks/ year starting), paid holidays (11 days/yr), snow closures, personal leave (6 days/yr), and sick leave (15 days/yr). FMLA available, can use sick leave or leave bank for first 6 weeks and other vacation/personal leave after that (or take leave without pay).
